More Fun with Donna

Okay, we're up to last Wednesday now. On Wednesday we went to the zoo.
We saw many wild and dangerous creatures, such as Guinea Pigs.

The lone guinnea pig contemplates his escape

Oh my god! They bit off all of Lilli's fingers! Ferocious guinnea pigs...

Ha ha - okay, enough guinnea pig pictures. But honestly, have you ever seen guinnea pigs in a zoo? And they didn't just have one little cage of them. No. They had SEVERAL LARGE cages.
We saw lots of animals. The moose were really cool. They had little moose ride-on things for the kids.
We saw deer. Wtih fuzzy antlers. This is right before Lilli got really excited and screamed and scared them away.

And I think this is an honest-to-god reindeer (I forget what they were called, exactly.) But don't the horns look like someone just tied them on? Like they're not real?

And these are some other sort of deer. A man came and dumped out a giant box of carrots while we were standing there, so all the deer (or whatever) came up to eat. Look at those antlers!

We saw a lot more animals. And I'm sure the kids did some very cute things. But apparently I didn't take any more pictures.
When we got home I made weinerschnitzel. I'd never made it before. It's kind of like chicken fried steak. Kind of. It was pretty good, but it would have been better with some white gravy.
On to Thursday! We stayed home and didn't do anything on Thursday. We were tired. And Lilli was sick. She had a fever Wednesday night, and all day on Thursday. I think we may have ventured out to the grocery store. But mostly we just sat around and relaxed. The kiddos watched a couple of videos. And I finished the baby kimonos for the twins!

In the afternoon Aaron, Selina and Sam came over. Aaron and Tipton hung out in Tipton's room and talked Pokemon. Selina hung out in the beanbag and watched a video. Sam and I hung out on the couch and talked. And Donna got a MUCH NEEDED break (from the kids and Tipton's endless discussion of pokemon) - she hung out on the daybed and read. A nice time was had by all.
Oh, we cooked out on Thursday, Donna and I. I had bought a disposable foil grill. We cooked steaks and I sliced a potato and drizzled olive oil and spices on it. It was pretty yummy. Only, that little grill cooks really hot. Probably because the food is so close to the coals. So you really need to watch it like a hawk or your food will be, um, overdone.
Friday! We didn't do much on Friday, either. I think we may have gone to another grocery store. Lilli was starting to feel better. We played lots of games. And in the late afternoon/early evening, Dave came home! Just in time for pizza and a video.
Saturday. Saturday we loaded up the family truckster and headed for Legoland! More on that in the next post.
